Hello All! One of my lovely girls is suffering from and impacted crop. She’s lost some weight, looks a bit pale and her poop is liquid. She’s not eaten too much but do see her foraging and eating a bit especially watermelon and fermented feed. She’s also been retiring to the coop a bit early. I’ve been tending to an egg bound chicken and one with a dislocated hip so have only recently started massaging her crop a few times a day once I realized what was wrong. I did attempt to hold her downwards whilst massaging her crop, to make her throw up, but nothing came out. I read that I should isolate her and after 24 hours give a dropper of olive oil and massage some more. My only fear is the isolation will make her loose even more weight? I fenced her off in a grass free section of the garden this morning (they’re all free range). What are the best steps forward? Thank you in advance!

Never make a chicken barf. It could kill it if they aspirated during the process.

Use coconut oil, & massage the crop, & give her plenty of water. Do the coconut oil, & massage as many times a day as possible. I usually do it like 3-4 times a day depending on how busy I am if I have a bird with impaction.
