Over last two days a juvenile / young-of-year red-tailed hawk has been hunting my property. About and hour or so ago it made a run at the smallest group of juveniles that sought cover under a patch of sweet sumac. Birds all over yard sought cover and made hawk alarm. Dog barreled off front porch and ran up under hawk perched on power line about 18 feet above. Dog was bouncing around on hind legs like a pogo stick barking at hawk. Hawk remained on perch for maybe 30 seconds before flying away. I suspect dog was actually watching hawk before it made attack run. Dog seems intent on catching hawk and is not above hiding to get closer to hawk's backside. Chickens response was kind of cool as well. One of these days the interaction will be filmed.
