Funny birds

So I’m not sure if this is what’s happening but could their nest boxes be getting too much wind or are too cold?
Do you use the same material in your nest boxes? (Does that affect things, I am unsure)
Do you only have the one nesting box or are there multiple? Are they all trying to lay in there at the same time?

When I first got them and before they started laying I put false eggs in each box. They just flicked them out every day. Would not leave them in there.

Maybe I will try it again
Might be worth a try.
Are your nests deep enough to keep eggs from being kicked out?
Pics of your nests might garner some suggestions for improvement.

Yes it's the same material as always. I have 3 nesting boxes but rarely do they use the other 2. They all want to lay in the one box. And yes more then one will go in the box. I have seen 4 in the one box at a time. They aren't good at waiting their turn. Lol. I wondered too if it might be cold in the box since it is getting colder outside. My nesting box opens up from outside the coop, it's one big door. do you think if I put card board on the door that they would not peck at it. That may keep it a little warmer.

I try to keep lots of hay in the nests but they flick it out so they can lay on the bare floor. Now the weather is a bit colder maybe they would like more hay . I will try it again

I wonder if your girls would go back to the nest boxes if you put something over their coop nest. Something they can't just kick out of the way.

You may actually be onto something with it getting colder. If they have ANY broody instinct at all, they should know that it is warmer down in the deep litter than it is in a raised nest that may be slightly drafty. The warmer the nest is, the easier it would be to keep the eggs warm. Not saying that they are broody, but, something in their little bird brains may be telling them to lay where it is warmest.

If you have a true deep litter that is composting, the composting it's self will actually generate heat which would warm the eggs slightly...
