I looked again, and she didn't show up even after I fed the flocks. Now I was sure she was dead. Feeling glum and guilty for letting them wander around, I went with a scoop of feed to a small plastic dish to give the rooster his own breakfast, and when I lifted the dish up, suddenly there was a bedraggled, dew-soaked golden chicken scrambling around my feet, completely popping out of now where! It was Myrtle, hungry for her breakfast! I was astonished, and I guess she must have gotten trapped under that pan somehow, maybe she rolled it over herself. She spent the whole night scrunched under there! If I hadn't fed the rooster separately, she would have stayed under there maybe the whole day, probably suffocating or succumbing to the hot sun. Wow was I grateful to God she was alive! So crazy! We had the same thing happen earlier, when my dad saw an empty watermelon shell scooting across the driveway, ha it really freaked him out! There was a Call duck underneath it LOL
