Im not sure if this is where to post this but.......

I was inside socializing with my chicks when my favorite RIR came up to me. Usually it will eat feed out of my hand but it pecked my hand real hard. Then I was really still and it came over and pecked my toes. Thank goodness I have nueropathy in my feet or it could have really hurt!

he he he hehe! Mine do that all the time. Especially toes, guess they look like realy fat worms:rolleyes: if they peck my hands, it usually means they want some snacks.

never thought of chickens having personalities but it is hilarious! I have one baby that will come and eat out of my hand. Tonight 3 roos jumped up and said hi to my husband! I like to watch them do their posturing. This fly flew into the coop and you should have seen them! I plan on buying them some worms and bugs. I guess I better to learn to like bugs. eeech.

I have two baby pigs that are housetrained to stay inside..some times we'll let some bitties or baby ducks in....the lil birds go crazy and chase the pigs all over the house...
sometimes they'll peck on "sooey" (pig) and she'll just roll over and close her eyes!

I'm so glad I found this thread. I've got one of my RIW's that picked me out from the get go. When they were all still in the house, this particular one would always jump up on me from the end of the brooder (or as the chickens call it...their roost). She would walk up my arm to my shoulder and then perch there. I could wash dishes, put clothes out on the line, read these forums etc., but the pastime this pullet loves the most is our hair.

She will sit there and prune my hair for hours if I let her. She never pulls any out, but I have to tell ya that it's almost like a massage. I know that sounds insane and somewhat ludicrous, but you know how it feels when a hairdresser washes your hair. How relaxed it makes you feel? In fact one night while reading this forum my daughter had just got out of the shower and asked me to help her brush to get the tangles out. As I started brushing, the pullet walked down my arm, attacked the brush and then went about to pruning my daughters tangles out of her hair. This is where the edit comes in at....I made sure that she hasn't swallowed any hair. That's all I need. A chicken with a hairball.

Here is a picture of the newest castmember of "HAIRSPRAY". Can anyone think of a good name for her. We've yet to name any of our chickens. We wanted to make sure they were pullets first

Precious? I have a RIR we call Lumpy because she is missing a wing. I don't have any other names except for the RIR outside that I think maybe a hen. Her name is Rocky. Oh and one Leghorn........can ya guess it? Foghorn. LOL!
