Fur loss

Both of my two week old ducklings have some fur loss under their necks. It is not really noticable when they are dry but when they swim I can really see it. Is this something to be concerned about?

No, don't worry about it. My ducklings always have some little bare spots at that age - they're growing fast, plus they might have scraped a little off on something. In another two weeks, they'll have feathers coming in to replace it anyways.

Not sure if this could be the same for you, but I had that problem last year and realized it was because the ducklings were reaching into the big ducks waterer and really having to stretch their necks against the side of the waterer to get any water out.

I don't believe that ducks, or any other type of bird, dons a fur coat.

Yeah I meant down (or peachfuzz). But fur was the only thing I could think of at the time.

Bossroo there was no need for that... I knew what was meant by fur..... My runner ducks had the same problem, but soon grows back... good luck
