FW Texas girl.. new to the Chicken scene (and forum)

hi,
I am in ftw texas. have 6 chickens now... lost one to my dog this afternoon...
He (the dog) is lucky to be alive right now.. but will be in a new home on Sat.
Anyhoooo, we have 1 rooster and 5 hens, which are a combo of americana, wyandottes (silver laced).
We are looking to add to the coop soon. Just need to get it a lot more secure.
So much information in these forums and I am excited to read it daily.
