We are in the process of lining our pond. It's about 40' across and 7' deep, so this has been quite a chore, and will continue to be until we get it all finished. I have wanted to give up and fill the sucker in on several occasions, but we need it for irrigation and such. A couple days ago I filled it up to give it a trial run and spot any leaks. Unfortunately, there are several. We'll have to find them and patch them up--nasty, muddy, hot grubby work. Grrrr.
At first light this morning, I got up and noticed large ripples on the pond. Taking a close look, I spotted a large hen gadwall in the shallows, and her beau on the shore nearby. As it got light, they flew off for more sheltered pastures. What a nifty thing to see early in the morning.
And I am inspired to fight on and try to get this thing to hold water...
