Susan Skylark
Songster
As you are keeping all hens crowing roosters won’t be an issue, but when we started we had a bunch of adolescent males in the basement right under my son’s room, he was not happy when they’d start crowing at 5am. I keep our babies in the basement (weather here is very cold 6 months of the year) but they go outside at 4 weeks (maybe later in winter). Having plenty of space helps but they are very dusty: bedding, dust bath, dander everywhere. Haven’t had issues with smell but even daily sweeping doesn’t seem to accomplish much on the ‘dust’ side of things, just part of owning birds!
