Would it hurt to give my 8 week old chicks this mix? I picked up the wrong bag when I mixed the Gamebird starter with the medicated chick starter.
I have switched my ducks to Purina Flock Raiser and I hate to waste the mix I have? It is about a 60% Gamebird 40% Chick Starter mix.

Thanks

I actually prefer the gamebird feed to chicken feed, especially over the winter. We fed gamebird feed to our hens all winter and they came through healthier and better-feathered than any prior year.

The quality controls are supposed to be better on gamebird feed, too.

No, your mix should cause no problems whatsoever, and should actually cause them to thrive better than on straight chicken feed.

I have been reading about chickens and asking questions everywhere I go..we too bought gamebird feed..it seems everyone who has done it, does see a healthy difference in their chickens..and for us, it was only $2 more per 50lb.

I stated using game bird feed last year when I had some pullets and my hens where free ranging and not laying well, so I got game bird feed with 22% protein and they seem to do great their feathers came in faster during molt the eggs where really great. I think it worked really well.

I use a different mix ratio but I feed chick starter and gamebird starter together to my chicks until about three months old then I lower the protein so they don't over develop. Builds good chunky birds.
