This is Jerry Lee. He is 1 year old mix. He free ranger during day and is penned at night. He grazes but is offered All Flock pellets.

He has a large lump on his lower bill. There is an open wound on the inside of the mouth. Nothing in it that I could find. But he feels real hot. He is eating and drinking like normal. Maybe a little slower in movement than usual.

Sorry I can not get a picture of the inside of mouth. My iPad will not fit.
I have OxytetracyclineHCI but do not know dosage. Can anyone help with this?

I know nothing about geese, so I would also post on the geese forum under the main forum top of this page. I would try to see if it is an injury or perhaps an infection like canker which can affect the side and inside of the beak. It smells bad, can cause yellow patches or growths inside the mouth and throat, and can grow quickly. Canker is treated with anti-protozoan drugs like metronidazole (Flagyl, Fish Zole.) A wound infection may respond to treating with saline (salt water.) Tetracycline is not that strong for a wound infection, although it can help respiratory infections. So I would try first to see if it is a wound or something else.

@Eggcessive. Thank you so much for responding. There is no smell or yellow patches and the rest of the mouth and throat look normal. He is not the friendliest so it may have been there for a couple days. Looks like maybe an abscess that ruptured. I probed and did not find anything in it. Mainly worried about his feeling hot.

There are not any vets in a 100 mile area that will see poultry. The OxytetracyclineHCI is all I have at the house. I can get some Tylan tomorrow.

Thanks again. Linda

Injectable procaine penicillin G might be a good option from feed stores. Dosage is 1/4 ml daily for 4 days injected 1/4 inch into a different side of the breast muscle every day. Amoxicillin or clavamox, or cephalexin would be good oral antibiotics for an abscess, but not available without vet prescription.

Thank you so much Eggcessive. I can get the injectable and will check at the my dogs vet to see if she will give one of the other antibiotics.
