Gapeworms?!! Wasine?!!

I have 12, 13 week old pullets that are acting like they are choking. Symptoms look like how I've heard gapeworms described. I just noticed them acting like this yesterday. Only 2 of them yesterday were doing this (throwing head forward with their mouths open, and flopping around on the ground). Those 2 were alive still this morning but a different one was doing it and died right there in front of me. I cut her throat open and did NOT see anything. clear as a bell. What is happening?!! I went and got some wasine to give them when I get home today. Will Wasine kill gapeworms? If its not those what could it be? I did give them some layer pellets that looked a bit too long (not sure why they were long, bad batch maybe). I thought when i threw it in that someone was going to choke and shortly after is when they started. I read on another post here to give them veg oil and massage their crop. I did that and it seemed to work, but they started acting like they were choking shortly after again. I also stood out there smashing the pellets up in case thats what it was. I gave them grower mash this morning like they really ought to be having anyway. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

According to an abstract that I read, effective treatment of gapes is Fenbendazole (Safegaurd or Panacur , liquid or paste) 20mg/kg (0.2ml per 2.2 pounds) by mouth three days in a row.

Thank you for the replys. I didn't see any worms in the throat of the bird that died. I only have 1 that is acting funny now and when i picked her up brown looking water ran out of her mouth. I VERY gently pressed on her crop and more came out. I didn't keep doing it because I read it will get in their lungs, but to do it over several days very gently. The lack of worms in the ones throat and the hard crop she had (forgot to mention that in previous post) makes me think they have/had impacted crops. I wont be feeding them those layer pellets anymore, back to the grower for a bit longer. I still wormed them just to be safe. Since they aren't laying yet I figured it couldn't hurt.

You have probably already done so but search her for impacted crop, you can dose with a olive oil and do a massage to help break up the blockages.. Hope you can get this one squared away.
