Garlic and sick birds

I have a friend who is a Spanish Farmer
we had some sick tiny young chicks
He chopped up raw garlic,
-fed them
oh my god next day, what cure , in 2 days they were back in the yard
charging about
I have no science to back this up, they were just limp and sickly
local Knowledge ?

It increases blood flow and is a diuretic, it might have helped flush the system. Or just coincidence.
however too much and they'll die since it's toxic to all animals and people, I would never give it to my birds.

Everything can be toxic to every living thing when given the right dosage and conditions including vitamins, minerals and water.
 
I've found that in internet aswell, I gave him to a 3 month old chicken years ago when one day he was sleeping almost all the morning, I panicked and gave him garlic the size of a corn and he recovered in the afternoon, they say it boost inmune system and helps to create an place not desired by worms (not when there is a infestation), however I give him once a month or so half the size of a corn, I don't have scientific information tough.
Now I have a letargic cockerel, and I give him in the afternoon I hope it helps :(
