Hey All,

I live in Bethpage, NY, within the Town of Oyster Bay. I've read up on the town ordinances, which state that no building, structure or premises for use in housing fowl and other farm animals can be erected in a residential neighborhood. As I understand it, there is a Board of Appeals for one to attempt to get a variance, but it looks like even if this does work that the structure must be 50' from the lot line. That pretty much rules out the majority of the town in our 60' x 100' lots.

I'm trying to gauge interest in seeing if anyone would be willing to pursue changing these ordinances. Neighboring towns and cities are ok with chickens, why not us? If you live in the Town of Oyster Bay, please post below and perhaps there are enough of us to make some noise.

Fingers crossed!

I would be interested in helping you change the TOB laws.
