I saw some gooselings at the feed store and just fell in love, but i also have chickens and limited spaces which means no more room for another run and coop especially for one goose. Do you think a goose would pick at my chickens??? Can you mix geese and chickens???

I would never suggest keeping waterfowl and chickens together unless you have a large space. Chickens need a dry environment and waterfowl are wet and messy. Ganders are also sometimes aggressive toward roosters. Also geese should never be kept alone. They are highly social and should be kept in at least a pair.

Ditto-However in Florida you should be able to keep them outdoors all year round. What breed of goose did you see? Do some homework on the breeds before you jump into goose ownership. Lot's of info on this site if you do a search! Feathersite.com is also very good.

A large goose is a big commitment. You'll absolutely love it when it is small, but once it starts to mess up your chcikens area and water alll the time you will grow tired of it and wish you hadn't got it. Remember this... they are MESSY!!

My geese and chickens do not mix. The ganders do not like the roos!

My chickens do not free range but the geese do during the day. Penned at night because of predators. They also have a creek to swim in all day.

Geese need water. They love to bath and need it with their food so it's ideal if you have a pond or creek. Otherwise I would suggest a low big tub or pool for them to get into.

And they are messy!!!

I reiterate! Geese are great if you match up a breed to your lifestyle-
There are many breeds to choose from, you just have to do your
homework! I have Geese, ducks and chickens, and they all have
separate needs. I have Sebastopols and they are a joy to own!

I totally agree that you should get a pair. If you don't care about pure breed offspring you can mix breeds.

LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My chickens, peafowl and geese free range.

If anything MOVES outside out of the ordinary, the geese go off like a siren!

And there is only two of them. A boy and girl. If the 5 hatch that are in the incubator, I'll go bonkers...
