Hello everyone, this is my first post ever. I'm having trouble determining the gender of this chick. At 4 weeks old (first pics) I was pretty sure he was a Roo, but now at 9 weeks I'm second guessing.
It doesn't help of course that he/she is a cross breed. I Was told part Easteregger.

He/She was the first to get a reddened crown and seemed to have a Roo attitude.
It's amazing how they can keep you guessing. :)

Thank You for any input.

Exactly! The pictures are of the same bird. At 4weeks then at 9 weeks. I guess my 4week old roo decided to be a hen instead. :/

That is way too much comb for a 9 week old pullet. Keep an eye out for the male saddle feathers. They start becoming visible by 12 weeks old. They are very thin, and very shiny. Do you know what the parents were? It looks like this chick is barred. If the barring came from the mother, then this chick is male.

I don't know what the parents were, which makes this guessing game even tougher.
I guess still wait and see.
:/
Thanks

I read on here that three lines of a peacomb usually mean roo. The pictures aren't really clear on the comb, but it looks like he has three lines.
