Gender of 5 week old Bobwhite Quail

I have 12 bobwhite that I hatched a little while back that just turned 5 weeks yesterday. 10 are going to my fathers farm to run the grounds and I want to keep a pair for myself. I was wondering if it's possible to tell their gender at this age as I want a male and a female. Thanks for any help!

Do any of your quail have white markings on their face?

Five weeks is a little young to tell by coloration. At 8 weeks of age you should start to see the black & white markings on the male head and the buff coloration on the female head.

I was worried this would be too young to tell. Thank you for your input, they'll be going at 7 weeks so maybe I'll get a better idea then.

You will slowly start seeing the white markings on the male's face. The females have a buffy face. five weeks is too young, but soon you will start seeing it. first very faint, but every day it becomes clearer.
