Anyone? I know it is early, but some of them are getting red combs and they are fighting. Monk, Eleanor, Leroy, BooBoo are the ones fighting. They actually kick with their feet. Do pullets fight this way too? I thought they would just peck each other. These guys actually stand up real tall and look each other in the eyes and then start Kicking.

Thanks for any help you can give us.

What breed(s) are they?

Generally, that type of sparring is typical of cockerels - BUT, I've seen it a few times in pullets. Usually, though, behavior is one of the most telling traits - more so than a not-yet-red comb!

My pullets do it all the time I call it chicken games cause one of them always backs down but both stand up big and tall and puff up and then they go to kicken and the other always backs down then they about eating or running whatever they were doing.
Heck just today I had one chase the other one around till it got mad enough to play the chaser backed down from the chaseie it was so funny.
I don't know if all breeds do it but this one does.

They are EE, Australorp, BR, and a white leghorn roo (same age). I am hoping they are not all male.
I wasn't sure if pullets play or fight with their feet. Even out in the yard, they will just run up to another, look them straight in the eye, standing really tall and then kick the other, flapping wings. It is a scary sight. My heart sank. I really do not want to get rid of any of these. I was praying for pullets and maybe, just maybe 1 or 2 roo.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm certainly no expert, but here's what I would think

Ziggy: male
Max: female
Booboo: male
Monk and Eleanor are too hard to tell
Leroy: looking male

4 weeks is a really ambiguous age though, sometimes the girls get a little red at this age too, but in the next few weeks the boys will get a lot more comb growth and color.
