I know RIRs usually have much larger red combs, but that's just the breed. My 3 were sexed as pullets. They are 4 1/2 weeks old now. Everything else looks pullet, small legs, female stance, and super fast feathering. So far they only have a little head and neck feathers to go before they are fully covered. But it looks like their combs are a tad tall, but then again these are my first chickens. The top part of their combs are light yellow, but near the base is definitely pinkish, maybe not red though. They also just got in wattles, maybe 3-4 days ago? All 3 have them, and though they aren't red they are colored....maybe pink? Is this normal for young RIRs? Currently, I can't get pics. My sister lost my camera, and until then you guys will just have to guess. Thanks in advance.

A picture of them would really help. I have raised RIRs in the past and combs and waddles on RIR cockerels get big and red fast. It is also hard to say since you are saying the comb looks big, but the feathering is not fully in on the head. I would not jump to conclusions just yet. But as soon as you can .. snap a pic and post it. That way we can give you a much better answer!
