Gender? Unsure of breed/age

Old English are bantams but on the larger end. My girls were about 3.5 lbs which was pretty big for EOGs, I was told. They were probably mixes but had the typical OE temperament. Those chickens would fight anyone and anything. All our cats and big dogs kept a wide buffer around them. I once had a Rottweiler in a wheelchair and I left her at the door in her chair to go get a baggie one day. While I was gone the chicken who was loose in the house started chasing her. It was both comical and sad. This 90 lb dog ran in fear of this tiny chicken -- and she was a tough bird. She could grab a hold of your skin and tear a chunk out of you! My serama, OTOH, was about 1.5 lbs and LOVED everyone. She would cuddle up to your cheek and purr and purr. She didn't fight at all, which is how a neighborhood cat got her. Those cats didn't dare mess with my OEs.

This new bird is more like the serama, very sweet, no sign of being a tough guy. But she's still young so who knows. She's also tiny, easily fits in my hand. I think she'll be smaller than my OEs. but if she's 11 weeks and looks this way, same as yours, then I am pretty sure she's a pullet.

All my chickens have been rescues BTW, and they're fun stories. I love chickens! I can tell you do too :) Thanks for your input!

i'm not sure what cathy could be. i'm very new to chickens :) On other posts i've seen pictures of pure with EE, think that might be a possibility? Whats her personality? I know my california white is very flighty and skittish...those are traits from the leghorn in her genes :P What size are old english hens? i don't have any experience/knowledge of them
I have pure white EE's and they look nothing like these :) Kathy has a frizzled father, and could have some phoenix in her. There is too much in her past to know exactly what she could be. She has two sisters that have the same figure, but totally different colours.

Here is her half sister Hoover.

Here is my pure white EE :) Thank you! I thought for the longest time Cathy was a boy, but at 12 weeks old and the size and colour of the comb she has (and no hackle feathers or saddle feathers) It's a girl.

I would have guessed boy at 4 weeks old!

Cathy really did look like a boy at 4 weeks. She definitely looks all girl now. Her sisters are really stunning, esp Hoover. I think after looking at the other chickens on this thread, my chick is a girl and 11-12 weeks. THANKS SO MUCH for sharing all your pictures and insights! I was so clueless and was sure I had a 6 week old rooster. lol Now to do more research on EEs. I had never heard of them. Love em!

Leghorns are a little larger though, right? The flock she is from are tiny birds. I really think they can't be more than 2 pounds each. I just posted a pic of a few of them in what breed/gender. She does look like a leghorn though. I guess we'll just wait and see and yes, I do see the fuzz now. Thanks for the input on her age. I was most confused about that, apparently! any idea how much she would weigh at this age if she were a leghorn. I couldn't find anything in online searches. I really need to weigh her... She fits in my hand. Thanks again.

I never knew leghorns came in bantam -- I think she looks most like a leghorn. There are no white chickens in the wild flock so I don't have anything to compare her to. She has such a sweet temperament. I guess when she's older, it will be more obvious? Thanks for all the info!

Well, I am sure she's a mix of some sort. She must be from this local wild bunch and they are quite a mixture of birds and varying sizes, colors, and conformations. I never knew that about earlobes. There is SO much to know! I checked her ears and beneath the feathered ear part, there is a little flap of skin without feathers and it's pink (red?). I assume that's the lobe? So likely brown eggs? I'll find out in 8-10 weeks, I guess.
