Gender

Hi there! I'm getting 5 ducklings in the spring(Mallards) and I was wondering if it would be okay for me to get all females. Would it be unhealthy for them? For instance, would it cause fights? This may sound like a silly question, but it's my first time and I'm nervous!

I have 4 females, 10 months old. They get along fine.

It would be fine. You can always add a male later. It's mostly a problem when you get several males and only couple females. All of one gender is usually not a problem.

I have 6 females, despite their names, and they all get along great. Occassinally there are some pecking order squabbles, but they pretty much determined wh is at the top and who's at the bottom. lol

And we currently have three drakes, and one hen. They all get along okay---though you can always keep a eye on them.
