I have a one month old buff silkie. I hatched buff orpington eggs and only one hatched so I brought the silkie in for company since it was so small compared to my LF hens born the same time. The silkie, Noel, instantly started "mothering" my one day old chick. Would that mean she would more than likely be a hen or do silkie roosters also do this?

This is her with the chick under her.

Not a sign of gender. It will be a while before we can tell the gender of your Silkie; Silkies are always rather hard to sex.

This one has a vaulted skull so is it true that the silkies with the vaulted skulls are more likely girls? Or am I just grasping at straws here hoping this one is a hen for my boy?
