My Genesis 1588's humidity level was too high, so I went ahead and took the plug out. Now, the humidity is 38% which is about what the humidity is in my other incubator, but I've read where other people have said the humidity should be around 45-50% in the 1588. Has anyone else had a successful hatch with a Genesis 1588 with humidity levels this low?

Many people do the dry incubation, (especially in styros such as the hovabator and the LG) and run 30-40%. I myself run dry when I can, but aim for 30-35% It's easier in the styro bators to have too high humidity. When in doubt monitor the air cells for growth and that will show you how to adjust IF you need to adjust. I personally believe that anything over 45% with a styro bator (as long as the hatcher is NOT at a high elevation) is bad juju.

I have a 1588. I run dry - 35% is my ideal. My average hatch rate right now is about 90%. I just finished a quail hatch today (which I incubate exactly the same way I do my chickens except the length of time is only 17 days), and my hatch rate was 95% - 20/21 hatched. Everyone is always looking for the ideal humidity but it depends on so many factors and think you really need to find out what is best for you... but air cells are really a no brainer.

My other incubator is dry and holding at 35-39%. I live in Alabama so it's pretty humid here. These two will be my first hatches, but I've done a lot of research and I know how to check the air cell when I candle.
