Last fall I visted a mans house to look at some seramas. While I was there I noticed that he had a porcelain OE hen and a lavender OE hen in a cage together. I expressed interest in these and he said he bought them at a show along with a rooster as a trio of porcelain OE but had since then lost the roo. Then he said I could have them and I took them. I gave the lav hen to a friend and kept the other. The porcelain hen is of good quality for an OE and has perfect coloring. From what I understand this color is rare in this breed at least of good quality and I am not interested in ordering a bunch of eggs just to get a roo. I already had a very good Blue Mille Fluer OE rooster which has awesome conformation and color. I read somewhere that porcelain is a dilute gene of Mille Fluer and if bred back to Mille fluer you would get 50% of each color. I would like some more of the porcelain so I put these 2 birds together and so far have only hatched 4 that seem to be feathering in BMF and reg MF in color although they hatched as yellow chicks. So is there a chance in reproduceing this color with this cross or am I going to have to breed the F1 generation back to each other or the mother to get more. If anyone can help please let me know and thank you. By the way for those that dont know OE stands for Old English and these are bantams.
