my current flock consist of 1 leghorn rooster, 3 leghorn hens, 2 rir, 2 tetra tints, 2 buff orphington,5 freedom rangers that were held over from last year for the purpose of extra heat in the coop...now I would like to start hatching my own eggs instead of buying chicks, does any body know what kind of mutts I would end up with from this combination, especially curious to hatch the freedom ranger eggs, would the chicks be more like layers or would they have the characteristics of the freedom ranger........yes I know freedom rangers are meat birds but these 5 have earned their spot in the layer house...

you never know what you are going to end up with until you hatch them out. Some of them would be some interesting mixes. I say just go for it and see what happens. Try to keep track of what eggs came from which hens, then when those hatch out leg band the chicks and see what they turn out like....Good Luck
