(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
This is the first I've kept chickens since I was a kid over 30 years ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 4 chicks right now. They are 6 weeks old today and have been in the outdoor coop for a week.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Silver Laced Wyandotte and Black Australorp, 2 each from Tractor Supply. Though one of the SLW is a little suspect, pattering and size look right, but the comb is a bit more upright than it should be.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They are endlessly entertaining, which is good because with just 4 they aren't going to pay back their start-up costs and care with eggs!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, hiking, fishing, archery, running, spinning yarn, weaving, knitting (poorly)...generally whatever catches my curiosity.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have 2 house rabbits, who were not impressed with brooding chicks in the living room. The chicks paid the rabbits no mind.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've been lurking since I started planning chickens for this year's new addition, so since last December. Now that the chicks are well on their way to being chickens I wanted to be able to ask for advice.
