Ever been infested with fruit flies? Well, if you want something worse get some sewer flies.

They live in drains and sinks, which is even more disgusting, I don't even know how we got infested. They HAVE to get in your eyes, your face, your nose, and your mouth-

And considering that they live in the sewers- yuck. I made cookies the other day, and what do you think I found sitting on the chip? A baked sewer fly; who had been killed by the heat. STAY AWAY FROM THE FOOD! OR I'LL PUT YOU IN THE FREEZER WHERE THERE'S LOTS OF FOOD!!!

So basically, they're fruit flies that not only HAVE to walk all over your food, they MUST fly in your face, in your nose, and oh, they will not SURVIVE if they don't get in your eyes!

Okay, rant over. Had to get it off my chest.

We have flies EVERYWHERE in my house!

As I write this right now, there is a fly buzzing around my head. I just opened some fly paper and man is that stuff sticky! I hope it gets them all! We have to have at Least 30-40 flies.

When we were selling our house a few years back and it was vacant for a while and the flies would come out of the drain and then die scattered all around the windows. A pest control consultation suggested flushing all the toilets and drains regularly and placing citrus fruit rinds in kitchen drain. I guess it helped.

We got them before

Couldn't figure out WHERE all the darn things were coming from but were finding them A LOT in the bathroom. Checked the screens in the window but no holes. Then DH did some research on the net and figured that it must be drain flies. We got some Drain-O ... problem SOLVED! LOL Take that you pesky little Buggers!!! So far, no repeat of the disgusting little things and it's been a little over a year.

Oh boy, I know exactly how you feel.

Try pouring a LOT of apple cider vinegar down the affected drains. It won't kill the flies entirely, but it will reduce their numbers.

What about drano down the drain..
Or peroxide and baking soda... it will foam up and kill them??

Do you mean Moth Flies?

Moth flies only are around putrid areas. If you've got an unclean bathroom, or a leak somewhere nearby, or mold growing in the area, etc etc - That's how the infestation starts.

They enjoy anything related to mold, muck, and sewage. Food? Doesn't attract them. Rotting food? Nope.

If you have a moth fly infestation, I'd ask a plumber or such to ask about the piping or a leak or something? We had moth flies start to enjoy our bathroom once, and it turned out that a raccoon was living under our house for a short while, which knocked a pipe, which began leaking. The warmth of the bathroom just above got them to live there for the winter months.

I also find moth flies around our nesting roomb/building during the winter too, the main reason being that there's a lot of muck at the entrance, and a lot of mold on the ceiling (it leaks bad)
