HELLO FROM RADFORD, VA.
I'M GETTING A FEW CHICKENS FOR MY KIDS. THEY ARE GETTING SO TECHNO IT'S RIDUCULOUS. I THOUGHT CHICKENS WOULD BE A GOOD OUTSIDE PROJECT. ONLY GETTING ABOUT 4 AND I'M LEANING TOWARDS GETTING BUFF ORPINGTONS. EVERYTHING IVE READ SEEMS TO SAY THEY ARE GOOD WITH KIDS. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS? IM TRYING TO FIND PLANS FOR A SMALL COOP THAT I LIKE SO WE CAN BUILD IT.

. I am a duck person but I know there is a thread for chicken coops. You might start with the "Sticky Notes" section in the chicken forum. Best of luck!

! Happy you joined us!! I LOVE the idea of involving kids in chickens instead of techno. And Buff Orps are great birds - docile and quiet! Don't neglect the idea of a mixed flock, though - I have 10 or 12 different breeds in a flock of 18 birds. Good luck to you!!

buff orps are great birds but a mixed flock would be awesome too so they all look different, maybe try some bantams even! good luck and
