getting a guinea fowl

i know nothing about guinea fowls are they
like chickens or are they like something else
and Ive been looking into getting a few because
its winter down were i live and theres a big population
of rats were i live and its not funny there is so much
rats that my father and i have filled 4 burlap sacks full
until we couldn't tie them and i herd that the guinea
fowl will attack and kill them so do you think can you guys/
galls could help me.

My guineas would not attack rats that are most active at night when they are sleeping. I suggest you get a lot of rat traps instead.
 
If you have a rat problem, you need to poison them with something like first bite. Just trapping will not do it.

Of course, your other animal will have to be put up. There are some on here that use a peanut butter and plaster thing.

They swear by it. You can do a search.
 
See if your local animal shelter has a rat terrier or a jack russel terrier. I had a ratty and he was awesome for rats.
