Getting a rooster! My first!

And then of course you have heard about adolescent boys being really, really annoying - so sometimes you have to separate them until they get more mature. Or the older girls may teach him good manners and he may not be a problem.

I unfortunately kept a hatched roo, expecting he and the 6 or so mix of his sisters and older hens would all get along. But my lead chicken, who brooded him, and he do NOT get along - I believe she wasn't willing to give up all the power, and so he sees her as a rival and will try to banish her from the flock. Hopefully you don't end up with that kind of a soap opera, but just wanted to prepare you in case you see such things.

I'm totally appreciative of all the scenarios good & bad. That's why I Post on here. But yes if he acts that way or caused too many problems he won't last long.
