Getting antsy. 6-7 weeks, and I want eggs!

I have buttons at 7 weeks and coturnix at 6. I'm DYING to find my first egg. Come on birds! Anyone else waiting on their first eggs? These won't be my first ever, but the first eggs in awhile, since I had to rehome all of my birds when I moved. I'm really getting excited, I try to leave the birds alone, but I want to find an egg here soon, lol. I plan on doing a fertility test, then will probably get back into shipping eggs, and maybe birds. Anything that doesn't sell will get tossed into the incubator for local sales/trades.

Well my buttons are laying. I am wanting my Coturnix to start! I had 10 today already and came home with 15 and they are all older. Mature enough to lay, I havent got one egg though

i cant wait til they lay!!!!!

I can tell you that any major disturbances will usually put them off lay for a week. A big move like you did with the 15 (by moving them from there to your place), I can almost guarantee that they won't lay for a week. But, since they're of age, it shouldn't take much.

I have a few Bobs(18) that are old enough 5-6 months old they sure are singing pretty they just hav,nt figgered out the egg thing yet

when they start breeding eggs are in the next week or two. At least that's what happened to me! I had one egg, then the next day two, then 3, 5, 9... I have ten hens of age, so soon I'll have enough to pickle!

Mine are breeding like crazy, the males are crowing incessently. They are more than old enough to be laying, but still, not a single egg.
It probably has a lot to do with the fact that I have them outside on the ground, and not inside under lights, but I'm still not too happy. The only "change" has been moving their portable run to fresh grass, but I do that every couple of weeks and have always done so, so they can eat the clover and chickweed, and not be sitting in their feces. It's not something I can change without impacting their quality of life.

I am dying to try pickled quail eggs. They need to hurry up, before I get impatient and decide to go with baked quail instead!
