getting chicks to learn to roost

Hi just wondering how to introduce chicks to roosting. What age do you put a roost with them?

You can have a roost in there even when they are tiny chicks (just off the ground) but they often don't want to roost until several months old. I think it is nature's way as if they roost too young I have read they can get a deformed keel bone.

I have always found that all my chickens except some silkies just take to the roost on their own eventually.
