Since they’re ducks, they lay anywhere and everywhere. We go out multiple times a day to check their area for eggs but with it being so muddy from so much rain we’ve gotten and I’ve lasted a thin layer of straw down - we have a hard time finding them as soon as they happen. They don’t have eggs everyday so it’s kinda a hit and miss. Question is… if we don’t know when the ducks are having these eggs and we don’t know if they’re 3 hours old or 3 days old, do y’all still eat them or toss them?

Eat them. But be sure to test them by dropping into a glass of salt water to be sure they dont float, before cooking them.

I also eat them. I sometimes crack them into a measuring cup first to make sure they look ok. I don’t use them if the white is cloudy or there is an odor.

You might try making a nest with fake eggs in it. I use a rubber dishpan with shavings in the bottom, then hay. I swirl a hole in the middle and add a fake egg or two. It seemed to help mine figure out where to lay.

If I'm unsure how old an egg is, I will crack separately into a bowl before using. If I'm using a recipe that calls for multiple eggs, I'll empty it out in between just in case I get a bad one in there. Or if it's a really dirty egg that I don't know how old it is, I just give it to the dog. Not going to spend time trying to clean a nasty egg if I'm not even sure how old it is.

Okay since I’ve made this post, I’m getting multiple eggs a day! So with that being said, does anyone have a photo of what a cloudy egg would look like? Like my eggs are clear coming out with the yolk but there’s that milky liquid look? I may not be explaining that right. Also, what kind of odor? When I smell the eggs in a bowl, they smell like my ducks smell if that makes sense
