Last Tuesday, my broody silkie hen hatched out a single chick (the other eggs were duds). This Tuesday, I'm hatching about 30 in an incubator. Among them are about 5 silkies (if they all hatch).

Does anyone have an suggestions as to whether or not I might be able to get my hen to adopt the new chicks - and if so, how?

Thanks!

Duane

I think your time line has expired, Duane. The hen and her one chick have bonded and anything added at this point will be considered an intruder and be killed. If you have so many hatching, a few more in the brooder won't hurtcha.......Pop

Thanks. I figured as much. I guess I'll just introduce the chickies in a few weeks when mom stops taking an interest in Jr. 'Course, he'll be good and spoiled by then - being an only child! lol
