we are getting an incubator and automatic egg turner today. Before we put eggs in, do we have to rest shipped eggs before putting eggs in? thanks

This, and make sure they have the point down, or are in a side-lying position. If you're using a turner, put them in the small end down position.

When I get shipped eggs, I do this.......
Unwrap them and set them narrow end down in an egg carton. Put them out of the way to "rest". The following morning after arrival I set the eggs in the incubator. I have a turner so I just keep them as they were in the carton. I try to set them as close to 7 am as possible. This helps me to keep track of "days" and I have a better idea of hatch time since they are all set the same way.

"resting" the eggs allows the air sac, if it came loose, to settle in one place. Since I started using the turner, my hatches have been way better for two reasons, 1. the humidity and temp stay more consistant and 2. I don't have to remember wich way I turned them last!
