Hello, all! New to this community and new to raising chickens for fresh eggs. So new that I don't even have the chicks yet! Coop and run are built and just about ready to go. I'm quite nervous to care for young chicks so I'll be seeking advice often!

Not yet. I'm in Tallahassee, so I don't need to worry about dreadful cold - I spent the last 60+ years in Indiana! I'd like good layers, of course, and friendly fowl. I plan on handling them a lot while chicks so they're used to being handled. Glad for any suggestions.

I like my Australorps, Barred Rocks, white Leghorn and Black sex link. They are friendly and great egg producers.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Good luck with your new chicks! You might want to stop by our Learning Center for lots of good reads on raising chicks and other aspects of keeping poultry... https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

Great to have you aboard! :)
