In late June I will be moving to eastern KY. The new place is on about 3 acres and is surrounded by horse pastures. I would like to start a flock of about 5 Dominique hens and 1 roo, and 2 scovy ducks and 1 drake. I would like my supplementary feed to be the same for the chickens as the ducks, from what I have read this is possible though I am curious to know what you guys are using.
Also I would like to ensure genetic diversity by ordering my males from different sellers than my females. Would it be necessary for me to purchase twice as many as I want and cull down the flock later?
