Is there some trick to get a rooster to stay out of the nest box? Or do I have to make new nest boxes up on the wall? Right now it's just a ground level box on the outside of the coop with a lid that lifts up. It always worked fine before. But now this darn rooster keeps trying to hide in it. He sits in there and poops and tries to hop out when you open the box to get the eggs.

Also, any way to get a rooster to man up a bit? Everything was fine before, but he got pecked at once by another rooster and now he runs around like he's scared of his own shadow. So of course all the roosters and even some of the hens take a peck at him. When he stops running in circles and acts normal everything is fine. None of my birds are aggressive. I'd hate to get rid of him because he's a Speckled Sussex and now I have some SS hens so was hoping to hatch some next spring. I have 5 roosters and about 50 hens so I don't think it's a ratio problem.
