I've not posted very much but I have followed this forum for awhile.
I wanted to have a few chickens for sometime but have found one excuse after another on why I shouldn't do it.
The biggest thing was the commitment it would take to having a half dozen or so chickens and taking care of them. A dog or cat you can put in a car and take camping/fishing with you. Chickens, not so much.
Anyway, on Wed I pulled the trigger and went to ye olde farm store (Dell's in Centailia) to buy 8 buff orpingtons.
When I got there they had the orpingtons but they also had the Rhode Island Reds and dang they were cute and looked bigger and more active then the others, so I bought the Reds instead.
Gottem home, putem in their little pen with the heat lamp, water and food. They found the water and food quickly. I was amazed.
Today with the warmer temps they were even happier and more active.
I think I'm addicted.
Now all I have to do is narrow my choices of hen house plans to one and build it.
Wish me luck.
