1) We are not new to raising chickens. David and I have been married 9 years. Both of us are farm children.
Together we bought our chickens the year after we got married.
2) We have two sets of chickens 16 hens and 2 roosters in one set. And 20 hens in the other.
3) let see we have 1 buff orpington rooster and 1 leg horn. several barred rock hens, rhode island reds, silver laced wyandot, and black sex link in set 1. Isa browns aracaunas and buck eyes in set 2.
4) Actually i was looking for ideas for our ducks area.
5) we like camping, fishing, hiking, and spending time with our grandchildren (16; 4 boys and 12 girls) and children (6; 3 boys and 3 girls).
6) When David and I got married most of our chldren were grown and gone from the house. Only Casey his youngest was still under age of 18. Even so I feel like I have raised her to be the productive member of society she has become. Casey matured, received a GED and got a driver's license and a job while under my supervision. Prior to me in her life she had quit school and had two children while living with her mother. I am proud of her accomplishments as if she were my own. Funny, but our children have all bonded, except for his eldest, and we love that they are so family loyal. Most of our grandchildren have been born after our marriage and they love coming out to spend time on the farm. Along with family, we have 2 dogs, 4 cats and 11 ducks. One of our dogs is a cross between a german shepherd and an australian shepherd. She is a pistol, but all our granddaughters that are 4(all 4 of them born within the space of a month) call her "MY Blaze" and she eats their attention up along with protecting them.
I can't wait to share and learn from this site.
