I bought my Mom a Silkie White Bantam chick today (she asked for it) for Mother's Day! She's so excited she's just giggling and cackling it's hilarious. The little darling was so cute and warmed up to Mom right away.
Mom put a teddy bear in the cage and the baby ran underneath it like it thought the bear was it's Mommy. So adorable! Just love little iddy biddy babies!

I don;t love going around popping people bubbles, but it must be done. Chickens are flock animals and it will NOT be happy without a partner. Go get another one.

She has other chickens it will be with when it gets bigger. She's loving it to pieces right now. Carries the cage around with her in the house so the baby isn't lonely and takes her out frequently to hold her (we're calling it a her for positive reinforcement).

I told Mom what you said tonight. Her eyes got very big, her lips very pouty, then she said, "I have to get another one?" I said that would probably be best since the one she has is probably lonely. Then her eyes lit up and she practically jumped off the seat and said "I get to pick this one out!"
So, beebee will have a sister (again with the positive affirmations) soon. Mom couldn't be more excited.
Dad just laughs although secretly I think he enjoys them too. He's quite a softy.
