My two 2-3 year old Gingernut rangers have really slowed in egg production. It began with hide and go seek laying. I tried putting a decoy egg in their box, but they still laid around the yard.

Recently they decided to lay on the plastic bag that holds the pine shavings. They brought a few leaves over to decorate, but they they often sit and sit, producing eggs very inconsistently.

In addition, my hens have become VERY vocal in the mornings. They have been very quiet little birds, until recently but they squawk and strut and raise all kids of ruckus in the mornings. I always run outside because it sounds like something is trying to kill them, but there they are, looking at me like I'M crazy.

It isn't just one of them it is both and at different times.

So, couple questions.

1. How do I get them laying again? Should I try new food?

2. How do I get them back in their nesting box to do their business?

Thanks for the guidance!
