Girl with a prolapse

Once you've got her staying intact, not just relapsing every time you leave her be, give her raspberry leaf tea or dried leaf in her food. Raw is fine too if you can get it, I'm just assuming you can't get it raw and can only buy it from healthfood shops or whatever.

Anyway, it tones the whole female reproductive system and also prevents the majority of cases of hemorrhage and septic issues in prolapsed or damaged females. It's one of those things everyone can't believe works until they try it. It's been proven in females of many species from humans to canines to poultry, and of course ruminants etc.

Best wishes.

Hi, just saw your post.

A few things you can do. One is, if you can get to a vet, it's a good idea most of the time (there are rare exceptions if the vet doesn't know anything about ducks or birds).

Here is azhenhouse's story

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...d-vents-what-do-i-do-update-w-graphic-pics/20
post 22 is a summary of what she found worked best.

Honey - perhaps manuka honey if you can find it (supposed to be very medicinal) on the vent, get the duck into a safe, quiet, dark place with plenty of fresh water and feed. You may want her on towels while you use the honey.

Some have used Preparation H for the swelling also.

When Sechs had a prolapse almost a year ago, I took her to the vet. They x-rayed, removed the egg (no shell), and put stitches on each side of her vent - a double on the prolapsed side. I brought her home and kept her in a darkened crate. After a few days, I decided to just keep her in the night pen without the lights on. I left a few infertile eggs one day - I was just late picking them up. When I came in later, she was sitting on them, and I thought - great! If she goes broody she won't want to lay. And it worked out well. She sat for two months, taking two or three breaks a day for swimming and runaround.

Well I helped the prolapse go back in and it's stayed in all day gave her water n just gave her some oats n corn, she on towels n heat lamp on her cause she was cold , he eating normally and pooping so will see how she holds on through the night xx
