Just sat down to read some posts while I ate my lunch. Nice that I happened on this thread, as I am abut to head to town and plan to check out the layer feeds at the farm store. I'm switching to layer feed when the bag I have is finished. I thought I might start with crumbles 9Like they're getting now) and maybe switch to pellets later to see if there's less waste. Actually I don't see much waste in my coop. Raising the feeder even with the height of their backs has cut back on waste. Also having plenty of feeder room for everyone creates a calmer feeding experience for them. Less frantic to get their belly full before they get nudged out of the way. A long narrow feeder is soo much better than the smaller round ones, for us anyway.
I'm off to my favorite store, where I can browse the tools AND now the chicken/feed section to my hearts content. Yee ha!! Ü
