Giving away the last chicken standing

Greetings. We have had problems with bears trying to get into our chicken coop and finally a successful break-in happened last week. Results: 2 dead chickens and 1 survivor, unharmed. The bears are recidivists so we want to give the last standing chicken away. She's a one year old black New Jersey Giant, but no giant yet. We live in Woodinville WA. Thanks!

Thank you! She must still be growing. I believe it takes two years for them to be full grown.

Hi,
Hopefully you'll find her a home closer than me (Pierce county, WA) but if not we can drive up, hit Molbak's, and bring her back to chicken paradise at the foot of Mt. Rainier. We have an electric fence and two farm dogs to keep her from having PTSD flashbacks...

That would be sweet Pam, thank you. I'll keep this thread up-to-date. Molbak's is one of my favorite places here in Woodinville.

This was last summer - A couple bears hanging out in our backyard, close to the coop.

I feel for you!! We have had a bear get in our beehive 3 times in the past 7 days and I am hoping he will leave my 44 chickens alone.

As for us, we found a new owner for our last chicken. She has a new girlfriend to live with now.
