Hello,
I have a black Australorp who is very broody and has been for almost two weeks now. I want raise chicks but want to experience a mother hen raising her young. I just received a late order of fertilized eggs in the mail and I’m just questioning now if I should give them to her or not. She’s been sitting on a few fake eggs for the past few days, and I want to switch them out for the real eggs but I’m worried that her broody state will go away before the eggs hatch. Last year when she was broody, I didn’t get any eggs from her for almost 3 months. Should I just give them to her and hope she doesn’t abandon them before the 21 day period?
