I just started my very first flock of backyard chickens and have so many questions! Googling the questions repeatedly brought me here, so I signed up. I have twelve 6-week-old black australorps. I ordered all hens, but suspect I got a rooster too. I'm ok with that. I also have a vegetable garden. My husband and I recently moved into an 87-year-old farmhouse in Dallas, Georgia, and we want to play the part to an extent. So happy here. When I'm not working as a CNA caregiver, I'm working in the garden or the chicken coop/run ... or just sitting on one of those happy places. Much better than TV!
 
There are plenty of people here ready to help. I am guessing that in Texas you may have some unique challenges. Welcome aboard.

No - not Texas. I live in Dallas, GEORGIA. Ha - I get that a lot. ;-)
