Today I managed to get the front wall and door of the coop finished.
I was not all that confident in being able to make the door, but, I was
pleasantly surprised I was able to figure it out!
Here is a photo of the front of the coop with the pop door closed.
This is a close up of the door closed.
and this is a close up of the door opened.
Tomorrow I have a ton of laundry to do. But, I hope
to finish the nest box and the back wall tomorrow..
Next will be adding the hardware cloth to the upper
portion of the coop. I am leaving quite a bit of open
space. Since here in AZ I will have more trouble with
over heating than being too cold. I figure I can make
some sort of covering for the open areas for our five
or six nights a year that we get temperatures in the 30's.
I am thinking of making some quilted covers for the
open areas. Maybe using cup hooks and grommets
and/or loops of fabric to attach them to the coop.
Do you think that would be enough of a covering for
the open areas in a climate that seldom gets winter
temperatures below the mid 70's in the daytime
and 50's at night?
