Hi there!

Anyone know if my chickens and ducks can safely eat Globe Chamomile / Stinknet (Oncosiphon pilulifer)?? I’m not sure if it’s related to Roman chamomile and other types that are ok for chickens...it’s in the Asterales order.

Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

Good Question!

I have seen some articles about plants that chickens can and cannot eat. You might want to check there.

I've read a lot of articles about what they can and can't eat, but haven't found any that specifically discuss globe chamomile. If you know of any, please pass them along.

I did find this:

Ethnobotany: Prolific uses as medicinal, from gynecological aid to antidiarrheal, to cold remedy, to heart medicine, to use as food.

@ronott1 Did you try giving this to your chickens? I eradicate what I find.. but if it's edible...

I did not feed globe chamomile. It looks like it is fine to feed to them though.

my freshly hatched chicks get chamomile tea. It is fine for chickens.
Chamomile and globe chamomile are different.. the latter is an invasive weed to North America from Africa... i wouldn't mind having typical chamomile in my yard!
