Some chicks can be sexually determined by their color. I am looking to purchase ISA brown hybrids crossed between Rhode Island reds and Rhode Island whites for both eggs and meat. Females are buff brown and males are white according to an article of yours I read. I am getting confused by the terms sex link, straight run, and pullets when ordering from a brochure. Can someone please set me straight on these terms before I purchase something I dont want.

Quote:
Sex-link ----
Sex-links are cross-bred chickens whose color at hatching is differentiated by sex, thus making chick sexing an easier process.

Straight Run ----
When ordering a Straight Run of chicks you will receive un-sexed chicks and will receive both male and female chicks.

Pullets ----
Young (under a year old) Hen

pullets can also mean female chicks (yes, I do realize they are under a year old

) Cockerels woudl be male chicks (or any male chicken under a year old)
